Practice areas Personal Injury Law

A personal injury case arises when a person suffers an injury or injuries as a result of the actions of another person. Where this occurs, a person may be entitled to compensation. The level of compensation depends on two factors; (i) liability (fault) and (ii) the type and seriousness of the injuries suffered.

In Ireland, before a personal injury case can be brought at court, the claim must be submitted to and assessed by the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) which is an independent government body that was established to alleviate the Courts’ personal injury caseload. For more information on the claims process with PIAB please see here.
