{"id":606,"date":"2020-10-31T20:12:10","date_gmt":"2020-10-31T17:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lawlorkiernan.ie\/?p=606"},"modified":"2020-11-02T00:23:33","modified_gmt":"2020-11-01T21:23:33","slug":"former-garda-rejects-tribunal-findings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lawlorkiernan.ie\/de\/former-garda-rejects-tribunal-findings\/","title":{"rendered":"Former garda rejects tribunal findings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Garda detective sergeant <a class=\"search\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/topics\/topics-7.1213540?article=true&amp;tag_person=Owen+Corrigan\">Owen Corrigan<\/a>\u00a0has rejected the findings of the Smithwick Tribunal which concluded he had an inappropriate relationship with and supplied information to the Provisional IRA.<\/p>\n<p>PSNI Chief Constable\u00a0<a class=\"search\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/topics\/topics-7.1213540?article=true&amp;tag_person=Matt+Baggott\">Matt Baggott<\/a>\u00a0has also spoken publicly about the findings of the tribunal saying they would not damage relations between his force and the Garda. Both forces were strongly criticised by the tribunal for being too quick to dismiss the possibility of collusion in the period just after the 1989 murders of two RUC officers, which the tribunal inquired into.
